This is a credible, well-told and disingenuous story of a young British Muslim who finds himself unwittingly caught up in a terrorist plot but who through his own right-minded instincts, the humanity of his family and the wisdom of the mystical Mr Nazir, finds the courage to resist the twisted dogmas of darkness propounded by his fanatical religious associates and as a result of his adventures, learns what it is to lead a good and more open-minded life.

The book covers an interesting plot relevant to something highly covered in current media. However, it adds a flavour of family values and humanism to the characters that is usually lost in normal coverage. Much of the interest I had in the book was regarding the concepts of mysticism that it covers.The main character of the book is easy to relate to as a young Muslim male growing up in a secular/non-Muslim society. The character displays very real concerns that go through the minds of Muslims as they struggle to maintain a balanced life with cultural integration and maintenance of the traditions that they inherit from their family.
As a literary piece, it is an admirable first effort by the author. The language is simple and easy to follow but lacks complexity in areas that would have made the book more engaging.
